Staycation Round 3: Glen Rose

Our day at the zoo wore us out, so we rested for a day before hitting the road to Glen Rose, TX! We had heard good things about its attractions, and since it wasn't too long of a drive and we knew we could sleep in our beds, we gave it a whirl. Spoiler alert: we will be back! We had a great time!

Our first stop was the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, a drive-thru nature reserve. I cannot stress enough how amazing this place is! I think we would like to visit again sometime when it isn't so hot for our sake and for that of the animals so we might see a little livelier action.

If you're unfamiliar with this place, it's pretty simple: you drive through (it took a couple of hours start to finish) and see animals, many of which will come right up to your car if you feed them. What a trip! I'll just let the pictures do the talking...

Next, we made a brief stop at Dinosaur Valley National Park. It looked very neat, but it was hotter than Hades. Definitely won't be back there until temperatures are much cooler.

Then, we went to Dinosaur World, which had life-size replicas of dinosaurs. So cool! Luke enjoyed it up to a point, but again, it was so hot that we got tuckered out pretty quickly.

We closed out our day at a precious diner, the Storiebook Cafe. They had a play room that won Luke's heart, and we all got to cool off, have a snack, and get our eye patch time in. :D

What a great day trip! We cannot wait to head back! :)
