About a year and a half ago, my sister Megan called and invited me to join her... for a week... in France. She would pay for my lodging and airfare.
I was thinking what you probably are: "IS THIS REAL LIFE?!?!?!"
Believe it or not, I wasn't sold on the idea. I would be gone for ten days, which was a looooong time to leave the kids and Jeremy. It was very far to travel, and Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-57594175673988373162016-04-09T20:00:00.004-05:002016-04-09T20:01:22.975-05:00Kitty Kate is 3!
Our Kate turned 3 on April 3. In a word... HOW?!?! Oh it goes by so very quickly! She had had almost a full week of birthday fun!
Sweet Daddy worked for hours and hours and hours assembling a kitchen for the playroom. It is precious, and Kate loved it!
We went to Honey and Grand's for official birthday cupcakes and ice cream, and Kate got what has so far been her most beloved Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-51575051681666711972016-04-01T21:31:00.001-05:002016-04-07T06:34:03.985-05:00Field Trip to the Zoo
Today Jeremy, Kate, and I joined Luke on his first grade field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo. The last time we were there, Kate was just three months old... and in two days, she will be three YEARS old, so we were long overdue for a visit!
We had such a great day together!
I'm feeling very thankful this evening, not only for our sweet little family, Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-10000164715083488802016-03-28T22:45:00.000-05:002016-04-11T10:21:09.432-05:00Easter, 2016
While we fared much, much better this past Christmas, whenever holidays come around, it's hard not to recall the hot mess that was Christmas of 2014. That holiday really hammered home the absurdity that the holiest Christian holidays of the year STRESSED. ME. OUT - and that's about the farthest thing from the point, right? So, Team Roberts has started making holidays lower key... which still Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-6172861064170206822015-11-05T08:22:00.001-06:002015-11-05T08:22:39.147-06:00Sibling Shenanigans
When you have a child with autism and then have another child, you wonder and hope all the time that that sibling will be a lightbulb for the autistic child. I've heard so many stories of how autistic older brothers or sisters really come out of their shells with their younger sibling, and/or that the younger child has a knack for reaching the autistic child like no one else can.
Kate is too Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-71927610458603369252015-09-08T15:49:00.002-05:002015-09-08T15:49:27.314-05:00Luke is 7!!!!
When I was pregnant for the first time, people gave me one piece of advice more than any other: "enjoy it, because it goes by so fast."
I was naive and just thought, "oh old people, you're so funny."
Well I blinked and went from this...
...to this seven year old boy.
Wow.
We celebrated as a family at Dave and Busters. Kate started MDO today. While we loved where we went last year (Sonshine Academy at First Colleyville), this year I chose to put Kate in Kids at the Cross preschool. It's a little closer to home, the times are more convenient, and she's in class with her sweet cousins Harper and Carson! I was so impressed at Parent Orientation last week, and I think Kate will have a great year!

Oh summer of 2015. How did we spend you?
We spent a lot of time in the car taking Luke to school (WoodallKids Academy).
Some kids age 6-7 lose teeth at that age. Luke gained two - here is the first of his two "shark teeth" emerging earlier this summer.
We went to the dentist. (This is Luke's turn... Kate's standing at the door, so concerned. "I want Wuuuuuuuuuke.")
We got our Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-45791983469679623282015-09-08T13:20:00.003-05:002015-09-08T13:20:57.927-05:00First Day of the First Grade
I can hardly believe that my boy is in FIRST GRADE!
As he does throughout the school year, Luke worked really hard this summer, attending BWF every day at least from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. every day. I took a picture of him at the start of summer and on his last day of Academy - his physical growth is evident, and I love his confident smile!
August 24 was the first day! I attemptedJeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-56828124281746609472015-07-13T15:07:00.002-05:002015-07-13T15:12:01.931-05:00Yay simmin!
Miss Kate sure has been a little fish this summer. Not surprisingly, she is FEARLESS. I pretty much put her Puddle Jumper on her and she's all over the place!
No, unfortunately, she won't swim in goggles - it sure would help me stress less about her contact lens in the pool! The good news is that she has swum with her lens in several times with absolutely no problems. Woo hoo!

It's so hard to believe that the school year is over! It doesn't seem like long ago at all that I was worried about how Luke would do, wondering if his teachers and support would be as wonderful as what he had in PPCD. Thankfully, God is so faithful, and we couldn't be happier to be at Luke's school. Jeremy and I are so proud of our sweet boy!
The end of school year brought many Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-37557387701117531472015-05-09T21:32:00.003-05:002015-05-09T21:32:47.628-05:00Day Out with Thomas - April, 2015For at least the third time (but Kate's first), we went to the Day Out with Thomas the Train when he rolled into Grapevine. Since Kate has a big brother - and his old toys - she loves "Choo Choo," as she calls him. She loves to play with the toy trains, and she loves to watch the actual TV show. We figured she would enjoy the trip for sure, but we didn't know how stoked Luke would be.

We have some sweet friends from Sunday School that wanted to cheer us up, so while we thought we would have missed the opportunity to hunt eggs, we got to do so in our own front yard!
Fast forward eight days and it was time Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-72373729341721994742015-05-09T20:45:00.000-05:002015-05-09T21:05:30.462-05:00Two Cute to be TrueKate is two. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN SO QUICKLY? My baby girl is stretching into a big girl right before my eyes. Talk about bittersweet!
Here's a little about you at age 2, Kate...
Perhaps this isn't a ringing endorsement of my parenting, but it is what it is: you love snuggling up to watch some of your shows. Between kindergarten's myriad of activities and preschool's theme days, I've got a hodgepodge of cute school pictures to share!
First, preschool has a picture day... or in Kate's case, days. (These are pictures of proofs, so the quality is poor.) On day 1, Kate would NOT have it and fled the scene.
On day 2, I tried to sit with her so they could get a good shot. NOPE. Later on Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-75773936153011024902015-02-24T14:01:00.001-06:002015-02-24T14:01:14.297-06:00Kate the Great
After a shout out to big brother, I don't want to leave little sister hanging, so here are some pictures of the Kitty Kate over the past few weeks.
While Luke is at school, Kate and I are buddies. She spends a lot of time in shopping carts... and a lot of time playing with her hair. Or my hair.
We went to see cousins JD and Hallie at a trampoline park. You are quite the jumper! Routine and structure provide stability and comfort for him, and while it took a few days to get back into the swing of things, Luke thrived going back to school!
Here he is with his 100th day of school project. Happy Belated Valentine's Day!
A week before the holiday, I headed to Luke's school to help him make his Valentine box for his class exchange. And why yes, I did do some rather inspired work with pipe cleaners. Thank you for noticing! ;)
Luke's amazing teacher texted me a picture of him opening his treats with his class. So precious! We're on our second "snow" day, and with actual snow looming, we may have a third day at home. Lord help me... cabin fever is setting in!
Anyway, I thought I'd take some time to remember the January that was. Picture time!
One day before school started back, I took Luke to Chuck E. Cheese to get the wiggles out. I am the best mother ever. :)

Towards the end of September (which feels like approximately ten years ago), Jeremy and I took a trip to Seattle to celebrate our tenth anniversary (celebrated in November) and Jeremy's 40th birthday. Why Seattle, you may ask? Honestly, no idea what really moved us to choose it, but we had a wonderful time!
Here we are at the airport waiting for our plane. It seems like a week ago that I nervously prepared to send Luke to Kindergarten. I've practically blinked, and half the year is over!
Before I let the pictures do the talking, I will say with 100% confidence that staying at home is the best decision I could have ever made to help Luke with this transition. Granted, the fall of 2014 has included MASSIVE transitions for every member of Jeremy and Lisa Robertshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16905882491182180724noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2937516656361383075.post-66948484138059948062015-01-01T11:05:00.000-06:002015-02-24T16:46:23.537-06:00Santa Pics 2014Since I am so behind in blog posts for the year, I'm going to do some updates that are picture-heavy and text-light. We took the kids to see Santa at North East Mall through the Caring Santa program. Can't say enough good things about it - if you have a child with special needs or know someone who does, refer them to caringsanta.org ASAP!

After the kids went to bed, Jeremy made a delicious steak dinner, and we drank some wine and went through what I have named our Jar of Blessings.

As seems to be the custom these days, there were lots of chances to sport costumes. The first was at Kate's school on Thursday: a costume parade! I recycled Luke's old pirate costume, and Kate wore it Thursday - with her very own eye patch!
